  7. Background.
  8.  
  9.    Stacker is compatible with anti-virus programs such as those from Norton 
  10.    (NAV) and Central Point (CPAV).  However, in order for them to peacefully 
  11.    coexist, there are a few guidelines to follow.
  12.  
  13. Installing Stacker.
  14.  
  15.    Before installing Stacker, disable any TSRs and Anti-Virus programs that 
  16.    are memory resident.  Device drivers such as NAV&.SYS, NAV_.SYS, and 
  17.    VWATCH.SYS should be disabled by REMarking the drivers in Config.sys 
  18.    and rebooting.  
  19.    
  20.    NOTE: Failure to disable these could result in an incomplete 
  21.          installation.

  23. Configuring Device Drivers.
  24.  
  25.    It is generally recommended that any anti-virus devices be loaded AFTER 
  26.    the Stacker device driver in Config.sys.  Loading devices such as 
  27.    NAV_.SYS before Stacker may cause the system to hang while loading the 
  28.    Stacker device driver.

  30. Immunization.   
  31.  
  32.    CPAV allows you to "immunize" executable files by adding signature 
  33.    information to the file. Do NOT immunize the Stacker device driver files.  
  34.    These files use their own signature information for a "CheckSum" self- 
  35.    check at boot time. Immunizing the files disrupts this checksum 
  36.    information and prevents them from loading.  Exempt the files from 
  37.    immunization by adding them to the immunization exception list.  Add the 
  38.    following files: 
  39.    
  40.    STACKER.COM 
  41.    SSWAP.COM, 
  42.    STACKER.XT 
  43.    STACKER.AT 
  44.    STACKER.MC  
  45.    
  46.    If these files have been immunized accidently, restore them from the 
  47.    Stacker diskette or remove the immunization from the files.

  49. BOOTSAFE from Central Point Anti-Virus.
  50.  
  51.    Bootsafe is Central Point's partition table and boot sector security 
  52.    system. Usually loaded in Autoexec.bat, it examines the boot sector and 
  53.    partition information of the default drive (usually C:).  If Stacker is 
  54.    swapping drive letters, Bootsafe will attempt to read this information 
  55.    on the Stacker logical drive and report: "WARNING partition/boot sector 
  56.    has been modified!"   This solution is simply to make Bootsafe look at 
  57.    the physical boot partition.  The syntax is:     BOOTSAFE d: 
  58.    (where d: is the letter of the SSwapped boot drive.)  For example, to
  59.    determine the physical boot drive, use the Stacker command.  Type
  60.  
  61.    C:\STACKER\STACKER
  62.    
  63.    The Drive Map display will be similar to the following:

  68.    Drive D: was drive C: at boot time

  70.    The physical boot drive (D: in this case) is the drive that "was drive 
  71.    C: at boot time".

  73.    Therefore, in Autoexec.bat the Bootsafe line would be:
